Nadine Matthews officially launched her career as a vocalist in 2009 at the first Listeners Space session.  Since then she has been sharing her conversational lyrics and melodic, mellow tones with various audiences around Cape Town. Having developed an appreciation for various musical genres and styles, Nadine creates work rooted in Jazz, R&B and Soul. She is influenced by a range of Soul and Jazz artists both international and local which is reflected in her original work.  She draws her inspiration from everyday life using the emotions relating to achieving personal goals and living life to the fullest.   Nadine can also be seen performing contemporary Jazz & standards around town as well as hosting events through Platform 7 Productions.

MUSICAL JOURNEY

From the  legendary Monday night Jazz jam sessions, Nadine performed at showcases such as Johnnie Walker Jazz Impressions, the Standard Bank Jazzathon 2002 and Jazzathon 2018 Nadine was also blessed to perform with pioneering Hip Hop outfit BVK (Brasse Vannie Kaap) at events such as Skouspel 2006, MTN Festival at Artscape and Killarney to mention a few.  She also had the opportunity to join Langarm (Ballroom) “institution”, The Ikey Gamba Dance Band, who have been in existence for almost 6 decades. Her most recent performance, June 2018, was at the SABC Auditorium as part of the Lyrics Still Matter movement alongside emcee Jerome Rex & poet Sipho Ndbele 

MUSICAL EDUCATION

Nadine attended the Saturday Jazz School at Richmond College studying Jazz theory and Performance classes while living in London.  She completed the Songwriters Toolkit course upon her return to Cape Town and continues to attend vocal training.
